Nutrition Month 2019

Annually, the Department of Health, in coordination with the Department of Education, celebrates the Nutrition Month as a way of emphasizing the importance of one’s daily food intake on the overall well-being of an Individual. The theme for this year - "Kumain ng wasto at maging Aktibo... Push natin 'to!" - not only focuses on the variety of food that we eat but also on its effects on our activities of daily living, its impact of our being active.

On June 9, 2019, Team New Dapitan led by Mr. Kevin Michael Jasani and Mr. Francis Aquino, Project leaders of the Community Health Plan on Hypertension, celebrated this year’s nutrition month.

Mr. Francis Aquino was invited as the guest speaker for this year’s nutrition month culminating activity. This also gave the team an avenue to stress the lifestyle modifications especially the talk on smoking and intake of alcoholic beverages as part of their reinforcement health education on hypertension.

Several activities were discussed by the team and the faculty of the school making sure that the key points would be inculcated not only to the students but also to the parents who attended the event. The activities were the following;

Table Preparation - Evaluating the knowledge of parents and students on the different food groups and its benefits for our body.

NutriQuiz - facilitated by the student doctors

Slogan Making Contest

Cooking Contest – Evaluating how parents manage to prepare a nutritious and cost-effective dish

Overall, the activity was a success. Looking forward to next year's Nutrition month celebration!
