ANDAM NA BA MO?: Basic Emergency Training

Emergencies and disasters can strike at any time or any day, so it’s best that we are prepared for it. Barangay New Dapitan’s rough, uneven roads provide an avenue for vehicular accidents and inaccessibility to emergency responses.

Thus, Team New Dapitan, headed by Kevin Michael Jasani and Wenneira Igasan spearheaded the program “ANDAM NA BA MO”, a Basic Emergency Training for the residents of Barangay New Dapitan, Tampilisan, Zamboanga de

l Norte. It ran from January 15-17 at the barangay’s covered court and was attended by various representatives from Puroks, Barangay officials, Barangay Health workers and nutrition scholars, Barangay Tanods, the New Dapitan National High School Disaster and Risk Reduction Committee, and even ordinary housewives joined in to learn how to respond during emergencies. Discussed during the training were First Aid, Basic Fire Prevention, and Basic Life Support. The event culminated in a simulation wherein the participants were made to rescue a victim and apply all that they have learned during the activity. The participants were divided into 2 teams and the SDRRMC. All 3 teams managed to “rescue” their given “victim” and passed the assessment.

Hoping that they may help the community in times of emergencies, but let’s keep our fingers crossed that they may be spared.

Kaya ANDAM NA BA MO? ANDAM NA!
